BMI January 16th, 2008...  BankMuscat International (BMI) today announced the appointment of Huw Evens as Risk Director. Huw joins BMI from Barclays.

Huw brings with him 27 years of banking experience, having worked in the UK, US and South Africa. Prior to joining BMI he was responsible for all aspects of enterprise-wide risk across Barclays in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean. As Chief Credit Officer for Barclays Africa & Middle East, Huw led the creation and implementation of Wholesale and Retail credit policies, systems, procedures and oversight in the 12 countries that comprised the emerging markets business.

A major proportion of his career has been in Corporate and Investment Banking as an originator of syndicated debt and acquisition finance, leading teams of senior relationship bankers, working closely with Chief Financial Officer’s and Treasurers in major corporates, to meet their global banking needs. Earlier in his career, Huw was responsible for the creation of a specialist industry team covering the UK, Europe and US Technology and Telecoms sector.
