AMH & BMI Bank roll out community outreach program

American Mission Hospital (AMH) with the support of BMI Bank and in coordination of the Ministry of Social Development will once again launch community outreach programs at 5 social centers around Bahrain. This community initiative is in itself a modern version of the divine responsibility undertaken by the pioneers of Arabian Mission whose dream was to provide medical care to all who required it. Today even 106 years after the formation of the Mission, the aims and objectives are maintained through the Community Outreach Program.

BMI Bank for the last two years have played a high profile role in their commitment to the community through their support for the Community Outreach Program. Their support this year will be utilized to cover 5 social centers around Bahrain to give free general check up with the main focus being on diabetes. The first program is to beheld at the Jidhafs Social Center on 29th March 2010. Besides the general check up’s and medical advice, the center will also be donated a complete first aid box courtesy of AMH and BMI Bank to all the Social Centers.

Andrew Bainbridge, CEO, BMI Bank, Bahrain said, “BMI is delighted to be a part of such a noble endeavor. Bahrain is one of the most rapidly developing and progressive nations globally today, yet the priority towards fitness as well as personal health still needs to be addressed. This is where we hope to play our part in supporting American Mission Hospital to reach and enhance awareness levels within the community.”

Bahnaz Abbas, Marketing & Development Manager of American Mission Hospital and the organizer of the community related events added, “On the one hand where we are moving fast towards all the latest technology which is causing us to lead a very sedentary lifestyle, this is one of the major causes of all our chronic medical conditions. One issue the world is facing as a whole today is the swift rise in diabetic cases not only in adults but in children as well. Most people would put it down to lack of time and overload of work and many a times the problem is totally ignored with the hope that it will go away but in fact only helps it to escalate faster. The credit for this event goes to BMI Bank the main sponsor of this event and special thanks to BMMI, Jawad Business Group (Papa Johns) and Mohammed Jalal Catering for their unwavering support towards AMH and the community.”

Maha Mandeel, Asst. Undersecretary for Human Resources and Finance thanked AMH and BMI Bank saying, “We thank AMH and BMI Bank for taking the initiative of conducting these outreach programs in the Social Centers. The Ministry of Social Development strives to serve the community of Bahrain especially the less privileged and this medical campaign will be very vital towards achieving that aim.”
