2010 Air Arabia Sailing Adventure
Bahrain’s Olympic sailor Sami Al Kooheji sponsored by Air Arabia, BMI Bank and Audi Bahrain today announced his plans to hold a new fundraising event in aid of Bahrain’s breast cancer awareness charity Think Pink.
The Sail Sami Fundraising Fun Night will take place on Thursday June 3rd 7pm till late at the Bahrain Yacht Club.

The event which is sponsored by A & E, AVL Concepts, Gulf Weekly, Radio Bahrain and the Bahrain Yacht Club is in association with Al Kooheji’s 2010 Asian Games Campaign dubbed the 2010 Air Arabia Sailing Adventure.
“It’s going to be a great night! The event is going to include a BBQ dinner followed by dancing and fundraising throughout the evening”, said Al Kooheji
“I’ve always been keen to support different charities, including breast cancer awareness”
The sailor who competed in the 2004 Olympic Games as well as achieving two world endurance sailing records launched his comeback to sailing in February with a bid to represent Bahrain and compete in the 2010 Asian Games.
“When making the decision to get back into racing, I not only wanted sail but also to make a difference within the community”.
“A few years ago I lost an aunt to breast cancer and I realized how many people’s lives have been affected by this particular cancer”
“I have followed the progress that Think Pink has made in Bahrain over the years and wanted to come on board to help them reach their goals, as well as promoting breast cancer awareness in Bahrain. I hope that my support will also bring the work that Think Pink and other similar charities do in this area to the attention of a wider audience”, added Al Kooheji.
Think Pink will officially announce Al Kooheji as their good will ambassador and one of his campaign main sponsors, BMI Bank, will unveil the sailors new sponsor branded Laser sail boat that I will he will be using for his 2010 Air Arabia Sailing Adventure Campaign.
“Breast cancer is not race, religion or class orientated. It is only with research, education and early intervention and public awareness that we can fight this disease”, said Julie Sprakel founder of Think Pink Bahrain.
“We are honoured to have Sami collaborate with the charity and raise more awareness for breast cancer. Having another Bahraini Sportsman as the 2010 ambassador for Think Pink Bahrain is a huge achievement. We will get the message out to the country that we will stand together as a community and fight this disease”, added Miss Sprakel.
Al Kooheji’s campaign is supported by GOYS, Bahrain Olympic Committee, Bahrain Maritime Sports Association, Team Pindar, Sail Bahrain and Think Pink.
Tickets are on sale at the Bahrain Yacht Club, Dilmun Club, Rugby Club and the World Beat Fitness Centre. For further info on the event, contact the Bahrain Yacht Club on 17700667 or the Sail Sami support team at samialkooheji@gmail.com
